How to Enable Whisper Pro

Getting started takes less than 2 minutes:

Step 1: Access Dictation Settings

1. Open Alter
2. Navigate to Settings (⌘ + comma on Mac)
3. Click on the Dictation tab

Step 2: Enable Whisper Pro

1. In the Voice Processor dropdown, select “Whisper Pro”
2. You’ll see the model download options appear

Step 3: Choose Your Model

We recommend Whisper Large V3 626MB for the optimal balance of speed and accuracy:

  • Reasonable download size

• Other models available:

  • Smaller models for faster processing
  • Larger models for maximum accuracy

Step 4: Download and Start Using

1. Click Download next to your chosen model
2. Wait for the download to complete
3. Start your next meeting recording
4. Experience 10-second transcripts!

The Best of Both Worlds: Local + Cloud Options

Not satisfied with a local transcript? No problem.

You can regenerate any transcript using our cloud pipeline directly from the transcript view:

1. Open any completed transcript
2. Look for the “Regenerate with Cloud” option
3. Get enhanced accuracy when you need it
