Video Tutorial

Why Use This Feature?

  • Use a local AI model for sensitive or offline tasks.
  • Use a specific fast model like Qwen 3 for actions involving tools.
  • Default to the best routing model to let Alter choose the optimal model automatically.

How to Assign a Model to an Alter Action

  1. Open Alter on your Mac.
  2. Click the three dots icon at the top right corner.
  3. Select Action Editor.
  4. Go to the Advanced settings of the action you want to customize.
  5. In the model selection dropdown, pick the specific model you want for this action.
  6. Save your changes.

Now, whenever you use that Alter action, it will run using the assigned AI model only.

Example Use Cases

  • Even if your main model is remote, you can assign a local-only model to a specific action, and Alter will use the local model for that task.
  • For scheduling tasks, you might assign Qwen 3 for its speed and tool compatibility, e.g., blocking your lunchtime efficiently.
